Our commitment
nepalnews.live is committed to making news accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we have done
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, search) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
- Screen reader support — pages use semantic HTML, ARIA labels and descriptive link text so screen readers can interpret content correctly.
- Sufficient colour contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark modes.
- Touch targets — all buttons and links on mobile are at least 44×44px, meeting Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for comfortable touch interaction.
- Text resizing — the layout adapts correctly when text is resized up to 200% in the browser.
- Dark mode — a built-in dark mode reduces eye strain for users who prefer or require reduced brightness.
- Language support — the site supports both English and Nepali (Devanagari script), with the correct
lang attribute set for screen readers.
Known limitations
Thumbnail images sourced from third-party RSS feeds may not always have meaningful alt text, as this depends on the publisher. We display whatever the feed provides.
Video and podcast content linked from the site is hosted on third-party platforms (YouTube, Podbean, SoundCloud) whose accessibility we cannot control.
Feedback and contact
If you experience any accessibility barriers on nepalnews.live, or if you have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at protfolio.amit@gmail.com. We take all feedback seriously and aim to respond within 5 business days.
